The Garden with trees The importance of trees Trees are very important to the structure of a garden. They function as fences and dividers. Trees also function as frameworks that support climbing plants. Trees are the long lived plants in the garden. Mature trees are hard to replace. They are considered the assets to a garden. Types of trees When choosing a tree to plant in the garden, consider the size and its use. A small flowering tree goes with shrubs. Tall and big trees provide an effective air resistance to a house or a building but they have the possibility to damage the foundation of a house or a building especially if their roots had reached the foundation and pavements of the house. It is not good to plant large trees close to a house. Small trees can be grown as shrubs and they can be useful for air resistance because their leaves can go to the ground due to their height. Trees with spreading branches are excellent if the yard is large enough for the trees.
There are different kinds of trees that can add up to the beauty in the garden. If large trees do not fit in the garden, there are smaller trees that will be planted in the garden instead of the large trees. Choose the variety of trees that will carry out an advantage for more than one season or choose the variety of trees that carry out their color, size, shape, and their fruits. Trees with tall shoots like conifers will show its beauty when planted with small and rounded bushes. The old trees will display its ancient and charmed maturity therefore representing a most treasured wooded garden. The trees with attractive barks make a beautiful sculptural design in the garden. Examples of fruit bearing trees are crab apples, japanese cherry and oranges, Prunus x yedoensis and Cercis siliquastrum. Big trees are Cupressus sempervirens, Chamaecyparis lawsoniana, Betula pendula. Smaller trees are Genista aetnensis, Castanea sativa, Quercus cubra and Metrosideros excelsus. |
