The garden with rocks and gravel A garden with rocks and gravel needs little sprinkle of water. It is a low maintenance garden. It is also very attractive and is a substitute to a lawn. Slopy lawn is an ideal garden with rocks and gravel. The plants in a garden with rocks and gravel should be provided with sunny, open and draw off soil. The plants in between the rocks and gravel are used as fillers.
It is best to go buy rocks and stones in a local store so the quality of the stones can be scrutinized very well. The second hand limestones are also effective as garden rocks. Synthetic stones are also good quality for use of rocks and gravel garden. The small kinds of stones can be formed together to make it appear as a large rock. Planting between rocks is easy. Slant the rocks to make a gap for the plant. Put soil into the gap. Before putting the plant into the gap, water and drain it. Lessen the water of the plants by squeezing gently, insert the plants in between the rocks or into the gap. Make sure the roots are placed with the soil. Water the plants again and fill the top areas to replace the soil that is washed away. Creating a gravel garden is easy too. Position and plant the large plants in their final place. Spread around the plant area the mulch sheet, fill in the entire sheet with the gravel. Level the gravel with a rake. For final task, be sure to check that all spaces are covered with gravel. Finally, don't forget to water the new plants and clean up the gravel with water. |
