The Garden with Perennials The perennial plants are plants that have no woody stems and they die or just remain some green leaves during winter. These are pretty plants to fill up those vacant spots in a garden. Perennials can set a finished area for a colorful garden. Perennials appear to be very attractive if they are planted in group of three, four or five of one class or type of plant. When planting perennials, prepare the site with a good drainage for any dry soil. Perennials with same planting requirements with other flowers should be planted together. When planting perennials, make sure to loosen the soil and mix top soil with organic substance. An appropriate place to plant perennials is to give the flowers and leaves a space when they later grow. Make sure that the ground around the perennial plants is covered with mulch and weed free all the time. Some perennials grow very fast, plant fast growing perennials with the same flowers that grow fast too. The low growing perennials need very little care after planting. However, the fast growing perennials require care.Summertime is when the perennial flowers grow and glow so in spring, put plant support to get them in place before the perennial flowers begin to blossom. Insert the support into the soil inorder to make it sturdy. To make repeat flowering, cut the blossom as soon as the flowers fade. Pruning is also one way to make low growing perennials look fresh and make a second glow of flowers. A garden is pretty to look at with perennials combined with shrubs. The combination is very attractive especially in a wide garden. A good shrub and perennial combination includes the balance of the shape of the flowers and the leaves. Perennials that are simple and tall gives a strikingly attractive appearance. The colorful and tall perennials can give a very strong attention because of their bright colors and height. Perennials are warm and bright and be very pretty as garden borders. Perennials with cluster of leaves create a brilliant sculptural effect in a garden. Example of perennials are Aruncus sylvester, Dicentra spectabilis, Galdiolus byzantinus, Verbascum, Gunnera manicata, Gaillardia and Hosta sieboldii. |
